Missions were compounds established by the churches to provide a safer place where the aborigine sight could feel safer from the mistreatment of European masstlers. Mission stations were set up to help assimilate the half-caste original children and protect them from their Aboriginal lifestyle, in doing so they caused a lot of pain and unworthy because they broke up families and communities. Although the missions may have started out with solid intentions they had argumently detrimental influences on the same volume they were there to protect. The settlers wanted the Aboriginals land and with the increasing number of Europeans approach across it made it very difficult for the Aboriginal people to continue their way of living because they were out numbered. The missions bribed the Aboriginal people by offering them food, alcohol and tobacco so they would mobilise the mission stations was the better place to be, but of class we know now that they did more harm than good.

Life on the mission stations revolved around the efforts to control and train the Aboriginal people. They were banned from using their quarrel and if caught teaching their words to their children they would be punished. Not being allowed to speak in their language meant that majority of the Aboriginal peoples culture could non be taught to the children.
