ABSTRACT
This study entitled, Code-Switching among English Education Department Lecturers in Indonesia University of Education, aims to go over the reasons of code switching among lecturers in English Education Department in Indonesia University of Education. The lecturers always work code switching in the process of teaching-learning activity in their English classroom. This study involves quaternary English Education Department lecturers as the respondents. During one calendar month of observation the time when the respondents use code switching was observed. The respondents were interviewed approximately the reason why they use code-switching in their English classroom. The info or the reasons why the respondents use code-switching when they are teaching are analyzed by using the theory of Hoffman ( 1991 ) and Saville- Troike ( 1986) .The findings show that on that point are ii code switching reasons why the lecturers use code switching in teaching learning activity. Those two reasons are because of talking about particular way out and expressing chemical group identity.
Most of respondents choose talking about particular topic as the main reason to switch code in teaching learning activity.
