I real enjoy reading The Awakening and I’m pleased it has emerged back in this time, despite the “taboo” subject. It is unfortunate that it wasn’t taken well by audience in that time. I was shock when I learned some the remarks made nearly the story. I disagree that it is a “sex fiction” or “an essentially vulgar story”. I like “ true” literature and I would like to read to a greater extent stories by Kate Chopin. I like the infatuation Edna has with Robert. While reading, I was zealous for their relationship to develop and blossom into some amour more. When they finally confess their feelings for one another and exchanging kisses, there’s an interruption from servant about Adele. When Robert cried out for Edna, I was heartbroken because I knew that was the end of their get it on for each other. I didn’t call for Edna to leave Robert.
I think life experience plays somewhat of a aim in appreciating and get a lineing these stories. If you have been in a analogous situation like these characters, you are able to re new-fashioned to and deduct the story.
Personally, I haven’t been entirely the same thing as what Edna has just now I try to place myself in her shoes and understand how she feels. I can relate to Edna in the sense of being in love with someone but not being able to be with that person. Someone with more life experience will have more benignity for Robert, Edna and the other characters. Even though these stories were written in the late 1800s, some of the issues are still present today in some form or matter. I think your berth doesn’t give birth a difference to the story, but it does make a difference on how much you appreciate and understand it.
