Up to that very day, very few people had thoughts or doubts as to the cultural belonging and the personal identity of the country and its inhabitants. Despite its clearly European position in geographical terms, the previous 500 years in the fib of the country had cast on Albania a veil of elaboration as far as the definition of identity. From the mid four-spotteenth century until 1912, an uninterrupted Ottoman rule on newfangled Albanias territories had imposed a slopped movement influencing religion, culture, language, customs, traditions, music, and cuisine, to credit but a few. So strong a presence was the ottoman one on Albania that the country was the last of the roaring Horns European dominions to break away and concur independence in 1912. The country survived the First World fight through international intervention and protection, a moment that was followed by a somewhat successful yet short-lived monarchy, and by-line WWII, the country would succumb under the pressure of one of the harshest and unkind communistic regimes in the world; certainly the most hostile as far as Europe has experienced.
In four decades Albania underwent class wars, ideological and social tyranny of communism with Russian and Chinese models applied to the population, elimination of all religions and creed, brainwashing in all societal levels; basically an extremely harsh shifting to metabolize and adapt to in less than 50 years.
